Heal Your Past, Live Your Present

treatment for traumA and disordered eating

All of us come into this world the same way, as infants…innately good, full of curiosity, and wonder. Our instincts guide us in getting needs met. This shapes our personality and world view.

When circumstances are not ideal, this can negatively impact how we see ourselves and others. In order to cope, we may develop maladaptive coping strategies that ultimately lead to further distress.

MEET AMANDA

A therapist, a learner, a listener

I understand that beginning therapy can be incredibly overwhelming and I am here to walk alongside you. I have been in the field for almost two decades which is sometimes hard to believe! I am a licensed professional counselor and certified eating disorders specialist. I also have extensive training in working with trauma, PTSD, and dissociation.

Throughout my career, I have enjoyed working in all levels of care from acute hospitalization to outpatient therapy. I am passionate about helping others achieve more fulfilling and authentic lives by healing their past and embracing their present. I am truly honored to hold space for my clients. Simply put, I love what I do.

HOW WE CAN WORK TOGETHER

01

  • Individual therapy (sometimes called psychotherapy or counseling) is a process where a client works one-on-one with a trained therapist. Research suggests that weekly sessions initially help to gain momentum and create emotional safety. Together we will decide on the best frequency to meet your individual needs. In-person sessions will be conducted in my Tucson office.

02

  • I offer virtual therapy (also known as tele-health) in Arizona and Georgia. I utilize the #1 HIPAA-compliant platform SimplePractice that can be easily accessed on your computer, smartphone, or tablet. EMDR sessions are also available virtually utilizing remotEMDR.

My Approach

To me, the most important aspect of psychotherapy is the relationship between therapist and client. Creating emotional safety is my number-one priority. When clients have had poor experiences or even just lack of experience in being vulnerable and handling conflict, the therapy room is the place to practice. I strive to provide an environment where clients are able to disclose private thoughts, feelings, dreams, and feel comfortable taking emotional risks.

My experience has taught me that traditional top-down methods of talking are not sufficient for healing. This is why I utilize a holistic approach involving mind, body, and spirit. Together we will learn about your nervous system and how to allow new associations to be made to achieve whole body wellness. I believe that you are the expert in your own life, you just may need some guidance and support along the way. My goal is to empower clients to reconnect to the inner wisdom and intuition of their authentic selves.

My belief is we are all doing the very best we can at any given time. With the right support you can heal the past and fully embrace the beauty of the present.

While our stories vary greatly, we all have the desire to be seen and heard. To have our experiences validated when someone says, “Wow, that must have been really hard. Tell me more.”

 How can I support you?
